5.6 magnitude earthquake hits Bihar, Assam, West Bengal

<strong>Earthquake in Bihar, Assam and West Bengal: </strong>A 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit various parts of Bihar, West Bengal and Assam on Wednesday morning. The tremors were felt in Bihar’s Begusaria, Kishanganj and Sahebganj. In West Bengal tremors were felt in Siliguri, Malda and Jalpaiguri. As soon as the tremors were felt, people started running out of their houses. The quake reportedly lasted for around 25-30 seconds. No loss of life or damage to property has been reported so far. Earlier today, a moderate intensity quake shook Jammu and Kashmir. There are no reports of loss of life or damage to property. An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale occurred at 5:15 this morning, an official of the disaster management department here said. He said the epicentre of the quake was at a depth of 174 km at Latitude of 35.6 degree North and Longitude of 76.3 degree East, located 199 kms north of Kargil town in the frontier Ladakh region of the state. <iframe class="vidfyVideo" style="border: 0px;" src="https://ift.tt/2x2ntYU" width="631" height="381" scrolling="no"></iframe> Earlier this week, a medium-intensity earthquake hit Haryana's Jhajjar district in less than 24 hours after another quake struck the region, the National Centre For Seismology had said. The quake, measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale, struck at 6.28 am at a depth of 10 km. Tremors were also felt in the national capital, it said. The quake occurred at 4.37 pm at a depth of 10 km and had a magnitude of 3.8, it said. It occurred in Jhajjar district and the tremors were also felt in the national capital, the NCS added.
