NDA candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh attains majority, elected as Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha with 125 votes<br /><br />122 votes in favour of NDA nominee Harivansh, 98 votes in favour of UPA candidate BK Hariprasad in second round of voting<br /><br />About RS Polls for Deputy Chairman<br />The election of Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha is took place on Thursday with NDA nominee Harivansh contesting against UPA candidate BK Hariprasad.<br /><br />Though neither Bharatiya Janta Party, nor Congress is in majority, the numbers hint at favouring NDA, after Biju Janata Dal President and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday declared support for them.<br /><br />“Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had spoken to me and our party will support the JD(U) candidate in the Rajya Sabha\'s deputy chairman election”, Patnaik told reporters on his return from Mumbai.
