He was explaining an old incident when he started crying<br /><br />Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee\'s condition is critical and he is on life support system, the AIIMS said on Wednesday.<br /><br />\"Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has been admitted for the last 9 weeks at AIIMS. Unfortunately, his condition has worsened over the last 24 hours,\" the hospital said, adding that his condition is critical and he is on life support system.<br /><br />Vajpayee was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on June 11 with kidney tract infection, chest congestion, urinary tract infection and low urine output.<br /><br />Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited AIIMS to enquire about the health condition of Vajpayee, who has been undergoing treatment at the premier institute.<br /><br />Modi reached the hospital at around 7.15 pm and spent about 50 minutes there.<br /><br />After Modi, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi also paid a visit.<br /><br />Earlier in the evening, Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani had visited the hospital to check on Vajpayee.<br /><br />The 93-year-old BJP leader, a diabetic, has one functional kidney. He had suffered a stroke in 2009 that weakened his cognitive abilities. Subsequently, he developed dementia.
